Senior Java Backend Developer
We're a FinTech company reinventing high-risk-market payments with an integrated digital identity layer. Our team is expanding, and we are looking for a highly experienced Senior Java Backend Developer to join our team and help us with the designing, developing and maintaining highperformance backend services, APIs, and database systems that power mission-critical applications. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable backend services using Java.
- Build and enhance RESTful APIs consumed by internal and external applications.
- Lead database design, optimisation, and query performance tuning (PostgreSQL, MongoDB,
- Write clean, testable, and maintainable code; participate in code reviews.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues with a strong focus on reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Frontend, DevOps, and Product to deliver high-quality features.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and best practices.
Key Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend development using Java.
- Hands-on experience of REST APIs design and development.
- Proven experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and SQL performance tuning.
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a remote setting
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Timezone (GMT +1/-1).
What would differentiate you:
- Experience with Spring Boot or similar frameworks.
- Knowledge of message queues (RabbitMQ, SQS).
- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and containerisation (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with microservices architecture.
- Experience with automated testing and test frameworks.
